While we have the highest respect for our judiciary and the independence of our courts, we strongly disagree with yesterday’s Supreme Court judgment.
- We strongly disagree with this judgment, and we in the UK will not be deterred from getting on and delivering on the will of the people to come out of the EU on 31 October, because that it was we were mandated to do.
- And we will simultaneously refuse to be deterred from delivering on what will be an exciting and dynamic domestic agenda, intended to make our country even more attractive to live in and to invest in.
- We are pushing on with investing in our NHS, reducing violent crime and cutting the cost of living and to do that we will need a Queen’s Speech to set out what we are going to do.
- People want to see us delivering a strong domestic agenda and they want to see Brexit delivered by 31 October, and you’ll hear more about some of these plans in Manchester at our party conference next week.
- The Liberal Democrats used their conference to say they would revoke Article 50 and Jeremy Corbyn used Labour’s conference to decide not to take a view on Brexit. We will use our conference to set out our positive vision for the UK after Brexit.
Over the course of Labour Conference, Jeremy Corbyn’s offer has been clear: more pointless delay and a wrecked economy, leaving the country with higher taxes and fewer jobs. He can’t even lead his own party, let alone the country.
- Corbyn has repeatedly blocked the country having its say in an election, because he doesn’t trust the people and won’t deliver the change they voted for.
Only Boris Johnson and the Conservatives will get Brexit done by 31 October, whatever the circumstances, and get on with delivering the change that people voted for.
Only Boris Johnson and the Conservatives’ will bring the change that people voted for.
We will realise the benefits of Brexit and get our country back on the road to a brighter future by:
1. Getting Brexit done by 31 October – no ifs, no buts.
2. Making sure Britain is prepared, whatever the circumstances.
3. Making sure people start seeing the £33.9 billion cash and the additional £1.8 billion committed in their frontline NHS services.
4. Hiring 20,000 new police officers and giving them the powers to keep our streets safe.
5. Properly funding our schools with £14 billion extra so that every child gets more guaranteed minimum funding, regardless of where they live.
6. Delivering a strong economy to fund the public services we all rely on.
